Adoption of 7 kid gives only child new siblings

One set of parents has made the decision to adopt seven siblings, taking their biological son from only child status to baby brother. The adoption provided a home for a family of children who had spent most of their lives in and out of foster homes. There are hundreds of children in Florida who are also waiting to find a permanent home.

The family chose to adopt a 14-year-old, 11-year-old, 10-year-old, 8-year-old, 7-year-old, and 5-year-old. Their biological son is three. The 25-year-old mother admitted that the whole ordeal is still a bit surreal. The seven children have been in the home since April of 2016 as foster kids. The parents felt that if they did not take the siblings in together, they may be separated.

The mom shared that it took some time to work out a routine for having school-age children. With six kids needing homework help, evenings were quite busy for a while. The parents call the siblings The Super Seven.

It took the older kids a while to settle in and understand that this was their forever home. Since the adoption, the kids seem to understand that they no longer have to live out of a suitcase, waiting for the next time that they will be shipped off to another home. The fear that they will be separated from their siblings is also gone.

Anyone in the state of Florida who is considering adoption may choose to take in one child or several siblings. A family law attorney can help guide potential parents through the adoption process. Family lawyers keep up with local laws regarding adoption in order to best serve their clients and make the process a smooth and happy one.
